Operating-Funded Assistantships

Assistantships paid from operating funds are governed by the Regulations Governing Academic Employment of Graduate Students (AEGS) Collective Agreement, negotiated annually by the Graduate Students' Association and the University of Alberta.

The following agreement outlines the minimum remuneration to be paid to graduate students, plus details about parental leaves, annual increments etc.

Note: For operating-funded assistantships, the average maximum hours of work per week for a full-time student is 12 hours. The average maximum hours of work per week for a part-time student is 6 hours.
