Thesis Submission Deadlines

Students must submit their thesis within six months of their exam defence. Students may avoid some registration costs by submitting their thesis at certain times (see chart below).

Submission & Approval Deadlines
Final theses must be accepted and approved by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research by 4:00 pm MST on the dates outlined below, whether you are submitting electronically or by hard copy.

We recommend you submit your thesis a minimum of 3-5 working days before any deadline, as corrections may be required.

If your final thesis (including any required corrections) is submitted and approved by FGSR after 4:00 pm on the deadlines below, the thesis is considered submitted in the next submission period and you will be charged registration fees according to the chart below.

 

If the thesis is accepted
and approved between: 		  
Sept 28, 2011 after 4:00pm
&
Jan 10, 2012 by 4:00pm 
  • student must be registered for Fall term
  • fees assessed according to the registration
Jan 10, 2012 after 4:00pm
&
Jan 31, 2012 by 4:00pm
  • students submitting during this period will not be required to register in the Winter term
  • once the thesis is accepted and approved, FGSR will add THES 910* registration (only certain non-instructional fees are assessed)
Jan 31, 2012 after 4:00pm
&
April 2, 2012 by 4:00pm
  • student must be registered in both Fall and Winter terms
  • fees assessed according to the registration 
April 2, 2012 after 4:00pm
&
Aug 31, 2012 by 4:00pm
  • student must be registered for both terms of the previous Fall/Winter
  • no registration required for the Spring/Summer period
Aug 31, 2012 after 4:00pm
&
Sept 28, 2012 by 4:00pm 
  • students submitting during this period will not be required to register in the Fall term
  • once the thesis is accepted and approved, FGSR will add THES 910* registration (only certain non-instructional fees are assessed) 
*Only FGSR staff can register students in THES 910; students cannot register themselves in this thesis course.
