Minimum Admission Requirement
GPA
  • a baccalaureate degree or its academic equivalent from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta
  • 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale on the most recent two years of full-time study (or equivalent)
English Language Proficiency
Applicants with degrees/qualifications in a language other than English may need to demonstrate English Language Proficiency through one of the following exam scores:
  • TOEFL: minimum score of 600 (paper-based) or 100 (internet-based)
Other Requirements
  • GRE for international applicants; minimum score of 500 (verbal reasoning), 650 (quantitative reasoning), 4.5 (analytical writing)
  • it is not necessary to have identified a supervisor at the time of application; a department rotation system facilitates the identification of a supervisor and lab
