Minimum Admission Requirement
GPA
  • a baccalaureate degree in law or its academic equivalent from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta
  • 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale on the most recent two years of full-time study (or equivalent)
English Language Proficiency
Applicants with degrees/qualifications in a language other than English may need to demonstrate English Language Proficiency through one of the following exam scores:
  • TOEFL: minimum score of 600 (paper-based) or a total score of 100 with a score of at least 25 on each of the individual skill areas (internet-based)
  • IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band score of 7.0, with at least 5 on each band
  • PTE (Academic): overall minimum score of 68
Other Requirements
  • two official and certified true copies of all transcripts and degree certificates in the official language of instruction
  • two certified English translations of all transcripts and degree certificates (if applicable)
  • chronological resume
  • three letters of recommendation
  • a Statement of Motivation (see Faculty of Law website)
  • Research Proposal (see Faculty of Law website)
