Minimum Admission Requirement
GPA
  • a 4 year baccalaureate degree or its academic equivalent from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta
  • minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale) is required for admission into a graduate program at the University of Alberta, however, a GPA of 3.5 (4.0 scale) is recommended for a competitive application on the most recent two years of study and prerequisite courses
English Language Proficiency
Applicants with degrees/qualifications in a language other than English may need to demonstrate English Language Proficiency through one of the following exam scores:
  • TOEFL: minimum score of 600 (paper-based) or a minimum total score of 115 (internet-based) with a score of at least 28 on the Speaking section, 24 on the Written section, and 22 on the Reading section
  • PTE (Academic): overall minimum score of 80

Other Requirements
  • GRE: scores should be competitive
  • volunteer experience strengthens a student's application
