Academic Probation

Departments may recommend continuation in the program for a specified probationary period if:

  • a student's cumulative program grade point average falls between 2.3 and 2.7, or
  • a student's cumulative program grade point average falls below a
    department-required standard.
Departments recommending a student for a period of academic probation must submit a Change of Category or Academic Standing form (below) to the FGSR for approval, detailing conditions of the probation.

If approved, a comment of “On Academic Probation” is added to the student record and reflected on the student’s transcript.

Note: This process replaces a change of category to probationary student, as this category was eliminated effective Spring Term 2006.

Once the student has satisfied the conditions of probationary period, the department may recommend the probation be cleared by completing a Change of Category or Academic Standing form (below) to the FGSR for approval.

If approved, a comment of “Cleared Academic Probation” is added to the student record and reflected on the student’s transcript.
