University Teaching Program
Note: The University Teaching Program is being replaced with a new university teaching certificate program in fall 2009.
The new program--a collaboration of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research and the Office of the Vice-Provost (Academic Programs)--will build on the strengths of the UTP and deliver new and exciting opportunities for training in university instruction.
The new certificate program is currently under development.
As we move towards the new certificate program, new registrations in the UTP are no longer being accepted.
Existing UTP Participants
Students currently enrolled in the UTP must complete the following reduced program requirements before December 31, 2010:
- the number of formal classroom hours/workshops--the pedagogical requirement--is now 20 hours (reduced from 40-50 hours); these hours may be from any sessions offered by a student's home department or UTS
- the videotaping I and II (micro-teaching) requirement has been eliminated
- the Teaching Dossier should be limited to 4-10 pages
